Start your first scan
After install, Burnish opens a welcome screen. Before the first scan runs, you confirm consent for the AI providers Burnish queries on your behalf. Then choose Run scan. The scan runs in the background, so you can keep working while it finishes.
If you have not granted AI provider consent, the scan will not start. You will see a prompt to approve it first.
What a scan measures
A scan looks at your store from two angles:
- Readiness. How well your catalog is prepared for AI: description quality, FAQs, structured data, titles, image alt text, and your store manifesto. This is scored from your catalog directly, with no guesswork.
- Visibility. How the major AI assistants actually answer when shoppers ask about products like yours. Burnish queries assistants such as ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Gemini, and measures whether your store shows up and how it is described.
While it runs
Your dashboard shows Measuring in place of a score while the scan works. Readiness appears first, because it reads your catalog directly. Visibility follows as answers come back from each assistant. When both are in, your AI Commerce Index appears.
The assistants a scan covers depend on your plan. Higher plans check more AI assistants and refresh more often.
