Why is my visibility score 0?

What a 0 means

A score of 0, or a Measuring state with no number, almost always means Burnish has not finished a scan yet. Your AI Commerce Index only appears once a scan has measured your catalog and queried the AI assistants. Until then, there is nothing to score.

After a scan, a genuine 0 is rare. It means both halves of the score came back empty: your catalog had no readiness signals to credit, and no assistant mentioned your store. More often you will see a low number rather than a true zero.

How the score starts climbing

Your index blends Readiness at 40% and Visibility at 60%, so progress on either one moves the number. The fastest path is:

  1. Run your first scan. Readiness is scored from your catalog straight away, so a number usually appears with the first scan.
  2. Publish a store manifesto. This single store-level action gives every product the facts you want assistants to repeat.
  3. Add a product FAQ. FAQs are among the highest-impact fixes, and answer the questions shoppers actually ask.
  4. Improve product descriptions. Fuller, clearer descriptions raise readiness across your catalog.

Visibility takes a little longer. As your readiness improves and Burnish keeps sampling the assistants, your store gets mentioned more often, and your Visibility score follows.

I ran a scan and still see 0. What now?

Check that you granted AI provider consent during onboarding, and that your products have basic titles and descriptions. If both look right, give Visibility a little time, since it samples the assistants over the following days.

Does a 0 mean something is broken?

No. It usually just means no scan has completed yet, or your store is new to the AI assistants. Following the steps above starts the score climbing.
